Verbs in the present tense are used to talk about the actions that one generally or usually does and to make descriptive statements.
Example: Hablo español. I speak Spanish.
Siempre hacemos la tarea. We always do the homework.
Steps to conjugating verbs in the present tense
a) Remove the ending (-ar, -er, or -ir) from the verb to get the stem (ex. hablar becomes habl-)
b) Decide the subject of the sentence (who or what is doing the action)
ie. yo, tú, él, nosotros
c) Add the appropriate ending below according to the type of verb (ar, er, ir) and subject.
